We were very proud to accept this award, handed to us by Trevor McDonald, at the prestigious National Federation of Retail Newsagents Award Ceremony earlier this year. The NFRN represents over 15,000 independent retailers across the UK and Ireland, so it means a great deal personally to both of us to have been chosen for this accolade.
In the 10 years we have owned the business, we have worked extremely hard to modernise the business to offer the local area of Skircoat Green, and all our passing daily customers, a well-stocked Post Office and grocery shop, offering more than your average smaller convenience store or newsagents.
Our modernisation projects have taken us from where we began with a small, busy, but fairly dated Post Office shop, through to today, where we now have a larger, modernised Post Office and grocery shop space, allowing us to expand to offer much more extensive product ranges, including the addition of our bakery offering fresh bread, sandwiches and cakes, and an external ATM.
The upstairs to the shop was ideal for our later project, which was to transform the large enclosed upstairs residences into modern, luxurious short stay apartment accommodation in Halifax. These part serviced apartments are maintained personally by us, and offered all year round at very reasonable rates. Many of our guests who make regular visits to Halifax have since returned to stay again.
Due to the multiple uses we have brought to the shop, our guests can enjoy staying in our warm, quiet, self-contained apartments, and also make use of our comprehensive shop and services, as well as the other high quality retailers and services on offer in Skircoat Green.
We'd like to take the opportunity to say thank you to our customers and residential guests, who have continued to support us throughout, and we hope to continue offering the best services we can for the next 10 years and beyond.
